HID Global added two miniaturized high frequency transponders to its glass tag family of radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. Each tiny Glass Tag Vigo HF (13.56 MHz) bio-glass cylinder measures approximately 0.1 inch in diameter (2 mm to 3 mm), and just one-half inch long (12 mm to 13 mm), and provides 1,664 bit user memory capacities. Vigo technology delivers HF performance in an extremely compact chip and antenna assembly. Each Vigo unit is manufactured with patented HID Global direct bonding technology, allowing the secure attachment of antennas to chips without the bulk of added modules. By enabling the precise connection of ultra-thin copper wire RFID antennas to micro-sized chips, the company’s direct bonding process ensures Vigo units are thinner and smaller than comparable chip-and-antenna combos.
