Do you ever get the feeling that revising the Hours of Service regulations is looked upon as lifetime employment within Washington circles? Any change that looks like it could even remotely be of financial benefit to the drivers, the trucking companies or the shippers will surely be challenged by public safety groups. And it works the other way as well -- the recent change to the sleeper berth provision has led the American Trucking Associations (ATA) to challenge the FMCSA's conclusions that the change will lead to safer driving conditions.
