Air Cargo Capacity Continues Seasonal Growth

Reports of growth in the number of scheduled flights in early March indicated flights had increased 3% globally over the same period a year earlier. Europe and Asia/Pacific regions reported flights were near the level before the September 2001 terrorist attacks. China showed a significant increase, 23%, and flights to and from China grew 4%.

Air France Cargo released its summer 2004 schedule covering April through October, indicating a 13% increase in capacity over the prior year. Among the areas where Air France added cargo capacity was China. Three of its six weekly flights operate with 747-400ERFs. A sixth weekly frequency was added to Shanghai.

Air France operates 52 weekly cargo flights to 51 destinations. It will add a fourth 747-400ERF in April to replace a 747-200F.
