In an open letter to the logistics community, Rick Blasgen, president and CEO of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) urges support for relief efforts.
Blasgen writes:
Shortly after Hurricane Katrina, CSCMP was one of twelve organizations to join together to help provide humanitarian relief agencies with a gateway to supply-chain industry resources. As a result, The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) was formed as a central organization to help coordinate these efforts. We ask that you visit the Web site www.alanaid.org to learn more about this organization and its mission.
In the aftermath of hurricane Gustav and in preparation for others that may come, CSCMP and ALAN are ready to help and ask for your immediate assistance. You can access our In-Kind Donations portal from the ALAN website right now.
ALAN offers an easy way to Donate Now – click the button on the bottom left side on from the home page and you will be directed to our ALAN portal on the Aidmatrix Network. Then click GIVEon the top bar, then PRODUCT on the drop-down list to see current real-time visibility into the specific items needed for donation as posted by the State Emergency Management Offices and the State Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).
You can make in-kind donations to match these needs or you can make unsolicited donation offers – both directly through the site.
Thank you in advance for your help in this important initiative.
