AIM Elects Four To Board of Directors

PITTSBURG, Penn. AIM, the Association for Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technologies, has elected four new members to its 13-member board

PITTSBURG, Penn. – AIM, the Association for Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technologies, has elected four new members to its 13-member board of directors. New board members include Frithjof Walk, of Feig Electronic; Chuck Biss, Hand Held Products; Scott Medford, Intermec Technologies Corp.; and Barry Issberner; Symbol Technologies.

As a not-for-profit industry organization, AIM's mission is to stimulate the understanding, adoption and use of data collection technology by providing timely, unbiased and commercial-free news and information. Board representatives are elected by the AIM membership at large to two-year terms.

"Automatic data collection technologies continue to revolutionize how business is conducted, from the emergence of wireless mobile computing and RFID (radio frequency identification) to sophisticated bar code systems," said AIM President Dan Mullen. "ADC touches every enterprise, from healthcare to industry and beyond. For executives to be willing to invest the time required to participate fully in AIM is a testament to the leadership of the companies represented here."

Frithjof Walk, of Feig Electronic in Weilburg, Germany, is global sales and marketing manager OBID, responsible for the development of FEIG's RFID Business under the Brand OBID® in all RFID Frequency bands since 1991. Walk is Chairman of the Board of AIM Germany. He was elected by the European AIM chapters to represent them within the AIM Inc. Board.

Charles E. "Chuck" Biss is vice president of verification products at Hand Held Products and have been involved in the automatic data collection industry for more than 30 years. He was instrumental in development of the Quick Check® verifier product line, which was developed in conjunction with Welch Allyn's Data Collection Division and is now part of Hand Held Products, a Welch Allyn Affiliate. He serves on a number of leading standards committees and has chaired standards work groups and standards subcommittees.

Biss is vice chair of AIM ADC1 (U.S. TAG to JTC 1/SC 31) and serves as the U.S. head of delegation for to SC31 general plenary meetings. He also is vice chair of ADC1's Task Group 3 on Conformance and a representative to SC31's Work Group 3 on Conformance. He is the 2001 recipient of AIM's Richard R. Dilling Award.

Scott Medford, Intermec vice president of global business development, is responsible for Intermec's global alliances and business development functions. In this role, he also manages the company's OEM strategy. Medford joined Intermec in 2001 and previously served as its director of North American retail solutions, responsible for market development and sales management. Prior to joining Intermec, Medford served as vice president of business development at SyVox Corp., where he managed global strategic and product marketing, marketing communications and sales. Medford also held sales and management positions with Norand Corp. from 1991 to 1997.

Barry Issberner is vice president of vertical marketing for Symbol Technologies. He is responsible for establishing marketing and solutions development strategies for worldwide vertical markets, including manufacturing, logistics, parcel and post, field automation, healthcare, education and government. Prior to joining Symbol in 1992, Issberner held a variety of marketing and sales positions with Xerox and McDonnell Douglas Information Systems.
