CHICAGO, Aug. 26, 2003 - IFS announced today that National Semiconductor Corporation has implemented IFS business software at its corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, California.
The Santa Clara facility, a small manufacturing operation used for research, is the fifth National Semiconductor site to deploy IFS Applications(tm). Additional IFS implementations are planned for National Semiconductor sites in the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and Singapore.
"We estimate that each plant is saving $1 million per year with the IFS software," said Ulrich J. Seif, National Semiconductor's senior vice president and chief information officer. "We attribute the savings to streamlined maintenance management procedures, centralized purchasing, and the overall benefits of replacing multiple legacy systems with a single integrated software package. With IFS, we have exceeded our expectations in terms of speed of implementation and return on investment."
"National Semiconductor's enterprise-wide rollout of IFS Applications illustrates how IFS' step-by-step implementation approach delivers rapid payback," said IFS North America president Michael Nordin. "Each of the National Semiconductor sites that implemented IFS Applications resolved problems in record time in the three areas critical to the company: purchasing, inventory management, and maintenance management. In addition to coexisting with other enterprise software applications and point solutions, IFS' component-based technology makes it easy for National Semiconductor to add new applications and/or functionality in the future in the same incremental, cost-effective way."
