PITTSBURGH—Vocollect, the global leader in voice-directed work, continued expansion of its Voice-Directed Distribution™ offering by announcing the release of two new additions to their product portfolio - the Talkman® T2x wearable voice computer, and Vocollect Voice™ Client software.

The Talkman T2x is the next generation of Vocollect’s industry leading wearable voice computer and the first industrial mobile computer to feature the 416 MHz PXA270 XScale® processor from Intel®. This new chip gives the T2x twice the processing speed of its predecessor, expanded memory, and voice application performance advantages not found in other devices. Talkman T2x also features Microsoft’s® Windows® CE operating system and Intel’s SpeedStep® power management technology which helps to push the T2x’s battery life to more than 12 hours before it needs a charge. The T2x is compatible with all existing Talkman accessories and can be deployed as part of older Voice-Directed Distribution implementations that use previous Talkman models.

Along with the release of the Talkman T2x wearable computer, Vocollect also announced the introduction of Vocollect Voice. Vocollect Voice makes it possible for voice-capable handheld devices to run Vocollect’s market leading industrial News Release voice recognition technology where part-time voice applications deliver improved accuracy and productivity benefits over typical screen and keyboard based applications.

“The same extensive set of warehouse applications that run today on Vocollect’s Walkman family of wearable computers can now be added to other selected handheld devices,” explains Larry Sweeney, vice president of product management and Vocollect co-founder. “Our clients have asked us for the ability to apply voice in these part-time applications on devices that best suit their business needs and we have delivered.”

The initial release of Vocollect Voice supports products from Symbol Technologies® and LXE, Inc. Support for additional voice-capable devices is slated for release in the coming months.

“With these new additions, Vocollect continues to drive innovation and set ever higher standards for the voice-directed work industry,” Sweeney commented.“Vocollect will continue to aggressively invest in extending our leadership position by delivering unmatched performance, flexibility and investment protection so that our clients can focus on improving productivity and reducing their operating costs.”
