OAK BROOK, Ill.—The Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) has added online learning to its offering of educational tools for distribution professionals.
The online courses, strictly focused on warehouse activities and planning, are designed for a variety of experience levels, from basic to managerial, according to WERC.
Seven topics are currently available. Five were developed by WERC, and two are offered in partnership with the Logistics Institute of Canada. The online courses include:
• Careers in Distribution (WERC)
• Pallet Storage Systems (WERC)
• Reverse Logistics: The Basics (WERC)
• Cycle Counting (WERC) Supervising in the Warehouse (WERC)
• Warehousing and Distribution (Logistics Institute of Canada)
• Inventory Management (Logistics Institute of Canada)
WERC plans to add courses on an ongoing basis. The classes are priced from $45 to $135; however, “Careers in Distribution” is free.
“We asked WERC members and found a hunger for training specifically focused on the warehouse, even among companies that have internal ‘universities.’ These managers said WERC warehousing training would be a valuable addition to corporate training on general topics,” says Robert L. Shaunnessey, WERC’s executive director. “We’re excited to offer more tools to improve the professionalism and performance in distribution workplaces for all levels of employees.”
