Texas Grants More Money for Lift Truck Replacement

AUSTIN, Texas—As part of the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP), $12 million has been released to help fleet operators in 34 counties replace older lift trucks, school buses and medium-duty trucks with equipment that uses lower emission fuel.

These grants are in addition to $12 million previously awarded for equipment replacement by the Texas Railroad Commission, the state’s chief energy agency. “The first $12 million we awarded will reduce Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions by 2,134 tons over the useful life of the new equipment,” observes Railroad Commissioner Victor G. Carrillo. “With this additional $12 million, we'll be able to help many more fleet operators clean up Texas air.”

The Texas Legislature created TERP in 2001 to help reduce emissions of smog-producing NOx in counties whose air quality falls short of federal standards.
