Whirlpool Corp. (Benton Harbor, Mich.), the $36.5-billion manufacturer and marketer of home appliances, signed a two-year lease to occupy a 852,000-sq.-ft. facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
“After reviewing multiple site locations, the facility in Carter Industrial Park stood out as the most viable option due to the existing railroad service with BNSF Railway, proximity to the port system in the Gulf of Mexico, interstate access, and the labor market in Fort Worth,” said Whirlpool spokesman Lee Kobza, in a written statement.
Formerly occupied by General Motors, the distribution facility has 55 dock-high doors and a 38-foot ceiling height and rail service via a Burlington Northern Santa Fe line. The distribution center is Whirlpool's second in Fort Worth.
