SEOUL, KOREA—Kuehn + Nagel (K+N) will handle warehouse management and parts distribution in Korea for Audi Volkswagen under terms of the new three-year service contract.
Part of the agreement is a commitment by K+N to build a new state-of-the-art logistics center in Korea. The facility is scheduled to be fully operational in September 2009. The center will provide 4,500-square meters of dedicated warehouse space for 22,000 Audi Volkswagen SKUs. It will have expansion possibilities for 2,000-square meters more space.
K+N will handle Audi Volkswagen spare parts for the aftermarket in Korea, including receiving, picking and packing, handling of dangerous goods, shipping and distribution to Audi Volkswagen dealers throughout the country.
“We were looking for a strategic partnership with a global logistics provider that can actively support Audi Volkswagen’s high standards in regard to an efficient and productive dealer service in Korea. We found this partner in Kuehne + Nagel with their integrated approach and long-standing experience in automotive supply chain management solutions,” commented Linn Lym, senior manager Parts Sales & Logistics Aftersales of Audi Volkswagen Korea.
Erwin Wittemaier, K+N Korea’s national manager, said, “the contract award underlines the trust Audi Volkswagen places in our company and its services, and confirms the benefits that integrated and industry-specific logistics services can generate for a global market leader such as Audi Volkswagen.”
