VIENNA, Ohio – Litco International, Inc. announced today that its Inca presswood pallets are not affected by pending international legislation that would require adherence to ISPM-15 standards for shipping of wooden packaging between the U.S and Canada. Similar federal regulations are under consideration for shipping between states in the continental USA.
Because Litco products are considered “bug, bark and mold free” packaging, U.S. companies that use Litco’s Inca presswood pallets for domestic, export and Canadian shipments may continue using their pallets without any interruptions or concerns about adherence to the pending legislation.
Under current ISPM-15 standards, those who ship with pallets and packaging materials made from raw wood must mark and treat their products according to the international standard. Companies that treat wood according to ISPM-15 must be licensed by their national plant protection office.
“Our Inca presswood pallets are an approved exception to the ISPM-15 regulations” said Gary Sharon, vice president of Litco International. “Wood packaging material (WPM) made wholly of wood-based products such as plywood, particle board, oriented-strand board or veneer that have been manufactured with glue, heat and pressure or a combination of those processes fall outside the regulation and do not require the marking and treating that is mandated by the new ISPM-15 regulations.”
For customers and forwarding agents seeking proof that their shipping material is exempt from the ISPM-15 regulations, Litco International can provide a voluntarily issued manufacturer certificate. Further information on the ISPM-15 standards and Litco’s easy to use, pest-free Inca pallets can be obtained by contacting Litco International via telephone at 330-539-5433 or via email at [email protected].
