SECAUCUS, N.J.—At the 7th Annual New York-New Jersey Port Industry Day conference and exhibition in Jersey City, National Retail Systems Inc. (NRS) announced its plans to develop what it calls “the largest distribution complex in the New York area."
NRS acquired 100 acres within 10 miles of Port Elizabeth, N.J. for the project. The land, located near the company’s existing 100-acre distribution campus, will be the site for two 100,000-sq ft. container transload facilities, according to NRS. The yard complex will be able to hold 3,000 containers or trailers.
NRS also announced it will build an intermodal rail yard with access to rail lines adjacent to the property and near a U.S. Postal Service sorting facility. The combined complex, said the company, will be called “NRS City.”
