HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. - Motorola, Inc. today announced the latest addition to its wireless infrastructure portfolio - the LA-5127 Wireless Networker(tm) CompactFlash (CF) client radio card with 802.11b/g connectivity. Optimized for embedded, enterprise-class mobile applications, the LA-5127 Wireless Networker CF client radio card offers enhanced Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) enterprise mode security and features that enable enterprise mobility for traditionallynon-wireless equipment such as mobile printers, weight scales, instrumentation, healthcare monitoring devices and other application-specific equipment needing reliable and secure wireless network connectivity.

The LA-5127 Wireless Networker is the first model in a new portfolio of enterprise wireless client cards based on a common platform and a worldwide radio that reduces network system workload. Sold directly to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with a software development kit, the LA-5127 Wireless Networker is designed for embedding within enterprise and industrial products. In addition, a common platform and single radio architecture allows OEMs to leverage software for the LA-5127 to adopt new features and migrate to new radios in the future.

The LA-5127 Wireless Networker enables OEMs to build custom end-products - used in vertical markets including healthcare, transportation and logistics, warehousing and distribution, and retail - to transmit critical information from the point of business activity.

"With many WLAN cards available on the market, you need to carefully select the product line designed to support mission-critical mobility applications," said Giancarlo Micheletti, chief technology officer of Datalogic, a leading manufacturer of barcode readers and portable terminals for data capture and OEM partner of Symbol. "Datalogic relies on Motorola's LA-5127 Wireless Networker to continue serving our customers with the latest and advanced technologies in WLAN connectivity."

"Our OEM clients want to provide their customers with devices that can be wirelessly connected to a network for capturing and sharing information in real-time," said Sujai Hajela, vice president and general manager of wireless infrastructure, Motorola Networks & Enterprise. "The LA-5127 Wireless Networker comes in a small, power-efficient package with a feature set optimized for today's business-critical mobile enterprise applications."

The LA-5127 Wireless Networker is regulatory approved in more than 70 countries throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia. OEMs can leverage the LA-5127's approvals to reduce end-product testing and certification.
