Lift Truck Puts Lego Pharaoh in its Place

LONDON—A six-meter-high statue of a Pharaoh at Legoland Windsor was boosted up on its stand by a Linde lift truck. The Pharaoh, one of the tallest Lego models in Britain, is made of 200,000 Lego bricks. It stands in front of Laser Raisers, a new ride that shuttles visitors through an ancient tomb in search of hidden treasure while they use laser guns to battle evil mummies and dodge traps and skeletons. Ian McCormack, Legoland’s warehouse and logistics manager, selected Linde’s R14-G reach truck for the Pharaoh lifting. “I was particularly impressed by Linde’s contribution to the decision-making process,” he says. “We thought we needed a new dedicated warehouse reach truck, but they came in, assessed our needs and suggested this R14-G internal /external reach truck,” says McCormack. “This can be used both inside and outside of the warehouse as well as for unloading commercial vehicles located in the yard apron area when the existing counterbalance forklift truck is busy or unavailable. This has given us much more flexibility in our operation around the site.”
