A Derbyshire (United Kingdom) packaging firm has won a national award after designing a completely “green” product it claims could revolutionize the packaging industry. Bridgeshire Packaging (www.bridgeshire.com.uk), won a gold award in the best component category at the 2007 Starpack Awards for its Pal-Foot packaging.

The Pal-Foot, which is made of recycled cardboard, is a fully flexible base for transporting, storing and supporting products such as furniture and washing machines.

Bridgeshire owner Robert Booth says the Pal-Foot was nine months in the making and has the benefit of no adverse effects on the environment.

"Coming from recycled cardboard, it can be completely recycled so no trees need be cut down,” says Booth. "The Pal-Foot is cheap, takes up far less room than pallets, is fully flexible and allows companies to enhance their green credentials.”
