WOOD DALE, IL – Danaher Motion introduces its fifth generation of laser navigation sensors - LS5 Navigator. This is the first sensor designed not only for indoor use but also for outdoor environments and cold storage, paving the way for new applications with automated guided vehicles.
Rugged design is vital to sensors used in harsh environments. The new LS5 Navigator withstands wide variations in temperature (-30°C to +50°C) and relative humidity (< 95%) as well as mechanical stress like vibrations and shocks. A direct drive motor with few moving parts contributes to high availability and minimal maintenance.

“Reliability is key to profitability”, says Kenneth Palm, Product Manager at Danaher Motion. “That’s why we have done all in our power to make LS5 Navigator extremely solid. Otherwise we wouldn’t dare recommend it for use in harbors, loading platforms, cold storage and similar environments.”

LS5 Navigator comes with a brand new optics system maximizing measurement performance and consistency. Another novelty is that LS5 Navigator is adaptable to different types of communication, simplifying sensor replacement. LS5 Navigator also works with AutoSurveyor—an easy-to-use software tool for automatic and accurate determination of reflector coordinates saving time and money.

LS5 Navigator is available in two versions: One for outdoor/indoor use and one for indoor use only.
