Qualcomm has been developing and testing a new untethered trailer system to provide – among other things – visibility of loads whether or not a trailer is connected to a tractor. As the developer explains, the system is aimed at providing increased security for high value or high security loads. It does so through on-board hardware, advanced power management, and an array of sensors and data integration capabilities, among other features.

Newest Consortium members are Atlas World Group, Celadon Group, Swift Transportation and Werner Enterprises.

Joining the Consortium’s Advisory Council are trailer manufacturers Hyundai Translead and Heil Trailer International.
