UPS CampusShip, a Web-based technology that makes it easy for far-flung employees to use a common package shipping system, is expanding its geographic reach to 17 additional countries and another territory.

The expansion brings to 42 the number of countries and territories in which business customers can use the technology.

With UPS CampusShip, employees in different locations can easily process and prepare UPS package shipping labels from their own computers. Company managers, meantime, can monitor the process; establish company or department shipping guidelines (i.e., certain employees can ship air express), and accurately track and allocate shipping costs by department or location

"CampusShip enables us to increase the visibility of our shipments from various locations and puts us in control of all deliveries," says Mitsuyoshi Okamura, Section Manager of the Logistics Department at Casio, the digital technology company that produced the world's first compact electronic calculator in 1957.

Casio manufactures products at facilities in Japan and other Asian countries, but has expanded its supply chain globally to include distribution facilities in Europe and the United States as well as Asia. "And we rely on CampusShip to optimize our internal shipping activities in order to remain competitive," Okamura adds.

UPS (Atlantaa) launched CampusShip in 2002, initially just in the United States. Two years later, CampusShip's geographic reach was expanded to 23 additional countries and territories. The continuing international expansion has proven useful for companies in the financial, insurance, real estate, legal, automotive and retail industries as well as for higher education and government organizations.

The latest geographic expansion includes Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Indonesia, Israel, Macau, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, Turkey, and Vietnam. UPS CampusShip already was available to customers in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and the United States.

CampusShip is available in 20 languages.
