Though not at the 2004 record level of 278 Euros ($343 million), Hapag-Lloyd achieved profits of 277 million Euros ($342 million) on increased revenues of 3.2 billion Euros ($3.95 billion).

Increased capacity on Asia-Europe lanes helped volumes grow 15.3% outbound from Asia and 5.3% inbound. With 1.1 million twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEU) in the trades, the Asia-Europe lanes were Hapag-Lloyd’s strongest.
