Today a “have” and “have not” situation exists with supply chain visibility, reports industry research firm AberdeenGroup (Boston). Best-in-class companies that have deployed advanced visibility technology are learning how to drive better customer service, lower inventory levels, and internal productivity with these tools.
“Global Visibility,” Aberdeen’s Global Supply Chain Benchmark Report found that 77% of the 150 companies surveyed plan to make improvements to their global visibility technology in the next 24 months.
To look at the state of domestic visibility technology, Aberdeen surveyed an additional 41 companies this summer. Study participants that track more than 80% of their shipments were twice as likely as their peers to have an on-time delivery rate of 95% or higher. Currently, 32% of respondents said they had visibility down to the order-line level, and 14% reported visibility of mobile assets. Register online to access the full research study.
