AIAG is partnering with Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council to drive supplier performance

AIAG, a trade association serving primarily the automotive industry, has formed a strategic partnership with the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) a corporate services organization that provides minority-owned business certification.

MMSDC and AIAG’s collaboration will expand the resources each organization provides their respective members and create new opportunities to assist members by sharing expertise and insights to improve existing supply chains.

“As the economic recovery accelerates, we must ensure that there is enough capacity in the manufacturing supply base to meet customer volume requirements and their very high quality expectations,” says J. Scot Sharland, AIAG executive director. “To succeed, suppliers need access to capital for plants and equipment, and employees trained in world-class business processes and practices. AIAG’s partnership with MMSDC will help ensure that minority-owned businesses meet the challenges of doing business in a highly competitive global market.”

The strategic relationship will allow members of each organization access to more expertise to address emerging issues, such as the growing complexity of the global supply chain, and emerging corporate responsibility demands placed upon businesses through new regulation and legislation.

Founded in 1977, the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) has more than 1,300 certified minority businesses and over 400 corporate members working to further its mission to certify minority businesses; provide access to procurement opportunities; and develop capacity for minority business development. The MMSDC was recognized by the National Minority Supplier Development Council as “Council of the Year” for its work with major corporations to promote minority business development and growth. MMSDC is a non-profit, 501c 3 organization. For more information visit the MMSDC
