In an effort to expand international offerings for customers and to meet increased demands for increased services near to, but away from port congestion, Averitt has established DCs in major U.S. port cities. The latest PortSide additions are at Seattle, Oakland and Panama City.

The carrier already operates DCs at Los Angeles/Long Beach, Houston, New Orleans, Miami, Jacksonville, Savannah, Charleston and Norfolk. Averitt provides a number of value added services at its PortSide facilities, including cross-docking, product storage, flow-through distribution, assembly, kitting, bar coding, retail-ready labeling and integrated yard management.

“More than ever, our customers’ supply chains are stretching around the world,” says Chuck Odom, Averitt’s vice president of global development. “And without question, their number one concern is speed to market. Our PortSide facilities allow us to provide customized solutions hat result in maximum velocity and streamlined product flow. And by combining our PortSide capabilities with our domestic distribution network, we can often shave days off inventory cycle times.”
