Many material handling and logistics professionals have construction, manufacturing and engineering backgrounds. Many of them are also between the ages of 50 and 65. That means they're looking at retirement, and as they do, their absence will be felt. Those occupations are not attracting enough young people to pursue the courses of study necessary to fill the void.
