DALLAS, (February 10, 2004) * Span Alaska Consolidators Inc. has signed with Horizon Services Group, a leading provider of intermodal logistics technology, to provide a complete outsourced IT services solution. Span Alaska is one of the largest cargo consolidators in the Alaska market.

Under this agreement, Horizon Services will develop new in-house systems for Span Alaska and guide the company*s corporate IT strategy and development plans.

Called Shipment Management, the project allows visibility to cargo information for internal and external clients via the web as they move through the life cycle from processing LTL loads within Span*s warehouse operations, to loading to delivery and invoicing. The system will also streamline complexities associated with the consolidator business and allow for greater flexibility resulting in operational efficiencies.

"Horizon Services Group has shown us the ability to deliver solid foundation technology. We have been impressed with their team and they come with excellent referrals from other clients," said Tom Landry, Chief Information Officer for Span Alaska. "Those of us at Span Alaska are excited that this new system will allow for complete supply chain visibility for our shippers on the web as well as better internal efficiencies linking our Kent, Anchorage and Fairbanks operations."

Span Alaska anticipates their new system to be completely implemented before the end of 2004, with functionality being made available to customers as early as the middle of next year.

"This is an important partnership as Span Alaska is one of the largest shippers in the Alaska trade. It makes for a unique integration of both the technology expertise within the Horizon Group, along with Span's historical excellence in handling and consolidating shipments. This will be one of the most advanced LTL handling and tracking systems in the Alaska trade" said Duncan Wright, head of Strategic Development for Horizon Services Group."
