Zebra introduces RFID printer/encoder

Zebra Technologies Corp. has introduced the R2844-Z, a second generation 13.56 MHz RFID printer/encoder. Supporting a wide range of RFID transponders such as Philips I-Code, Texas Instrument's Tag-it, and Inside Contactless's PicoTag, the R2844-Z is designed for low volume printing/encoding applications in the express parcel, pharmaceutical, library book and video rental, amusement and entertainment, and medical/healthcare markets.

The desktop-sized R2844-Z includes advanced connectivity with serial, USB and parallel ports, plus optional internal Ethernet. Other features include programmable print position for flexible transponder placement, flash-upgradeable RFID reader/encoder for new RFID protocols, faster print speed with the SH3 processor, and a small, compact footprint to maximize limited space.

The R2844-Z will replace Zebra's R402 desktop printer/encoder introduced in August 2002.
