ClearOrbit's acquisition by TAKE Solutions will position it as the US-based supply chain management division of a global business software and services organization. Privately held TAKE Solutions is a life sciences and supply chain management solutions provider.

The ClearOrbit brand name will be retained and combined with TAKE's existing supply chain management division.

"This transaction provides a truly outstanding fit between two highly compatible organizations," said Ram Yeleswarapu, president and CEO of TAKE Solutions.

No purchase price or terms of the deal were disclosed.

Elsewhere in the tech world, wireless and satellite communications solutions provider EMS Technologies announced it would acquire DSpace of Adelaide, Australia for US$ 5.7 million.

DSpace, which was founded in 1995, has been instrumental in the development of Imarsat's BGAN mobile broadband service. BGAN offers voice and data connectivity beyond the reach of terrestrial networks.

The DSpace operation will become part of the EMS Satcom Division but will remain in its current location in Australia.
