The nation's fifth largest trucking fleet operator, US Xpress will put the event-driven, exception-based satellite monitoring system in its fleet of 12,000 trailers.

Offered by a partnership of Aerther Systems Inc. and TranCommunications Inc. GeoLogic uses a combination of GPS and L-Band satellite technology for asset monitoring. GeoLogic allows fleet managers to configure event-driven and exception-based alerts. The suppliers explain, "the asset management and tracking solution incorporates the use of 'geo-fences' and pre-determined events such as arrivals, departures, entry to the trailer, and disconnection from the truck to help with mission critical and secure load planning." Further, with programmed alerts, managers may be sure that hazmat or high value shipments don't deviate from their lanes.
