FT. LAUDERDALE, Florida - November 17, 2003 - Exel, one of the world's largest forwarding and logistics companies, announced today at the IANA Intermodal Expo that it is the latest business to utilize the power of the Interbox® intermodal reservation system, provided by global asset management provider, International Asset Systems (IAS).
Exel is using Interbox to provide its customers with easy access to China Shipping Container Line's container inventories at inland depots around the country.
"The repositioning of ocean containers with domestic freight is a very competitive business. We need to be as user friendly as possible," said Jim Sells, Vice President for Exel's Container Management Services unit. "Interbox does just that and is being very favorably received since our adoption of it last month. InterBox makes it much easier for our customers to locate and reserve containers, even after hours, so we don't miss a booking and can move the cargo faster."
Interbox consolidates domestic equipment suppliers' regional inventories and makes them available online, 24/7. Exel's customers can search for and book containers needed in a particular location by viewing what's available via Interbox. Container inventory data continuously populates the growing intermodal reservation system.
"We are particularly pleased to assist Exel in meeting their customer needs," noted Tim Odell, Vice President of Intermodal at IAS. "Interbox will help Exel expand their customer base and increase their level of service to meet their aggressive growth goals."
