Dallas-based i2 Technologies, Inc. (www.i2.com) has filed a lawsuit against SAP AG (www.sap.com) and SAP Americas, Inc., for patent infringement. Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the suit alleges infringement of seven patents related to supply chain management. Those patents cover network models for process planning, for coordinating separate factory planning systems, for negotiating and tracking the sale of goods, and for allocating manufactured product to customers.

"i2 is proud of its nearly 20 years as a global innovator and leader in supply chain management. Much of this leadership position was built upon our pioneering ability to solve complex business problems, which was recognized by the awarding of patents for these innovations," said Michael McGrath, i2 CEO and president. "We believe that it is critical to protect our patented innovations, and accordingly took these actions today against SAP."
