Citing increasingly complex supply chains resulting from continued global expansion as a driving force, Penske Logistics has formed a strategic alliance with ABX Logistics to combine Penske’s logistics execution and technology and ABX’s global reach and freight forwarding capabilities.

“Customers continue to expand globally to get closer to emerging markets and reduce operating costs,” says Vince Hartnett, president, Penske Logistics. “However, expansion also increases the complexity of their supply chains and the range of supply chain management sophistication varies country-to-country, creating quality issues."

Penske Logistics and ABX LOGISTICS say they will provide seamless handling of customer shipments from initial consolidation at air/ocean ports to deconsolidation centers, and ultimately to the final destination.

The companies will focus initial efforts on providing this service offering to existing customers. The alliance will also seek strategic opportunities with multinational corporations around the globe.

Penske Logistics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Penske Truck Leasing, a joint venture of Penske Corporation and General Electric. Penske Logistics provides supply chain management and logistics services to major industrial and consumer companies throughout the world.
