Roadway has begun the second touring season of “Times of Greatness,” a mobile museum dedicated to the history of Negro Leagues Baseball. The tour will stop in 30 cities throughout the 2006 baseball season, including first-time stops in Toronto, Seattle, San Francisco, Milwaukee and the Minor League cities of Portland, Ore.; Memphis, Tenn.; Durham, N.C.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Harrisburg, Pa. Many of the “Times of Greatness” Tour stops also coincide with Negro Leagues commemorative days at the stadiums.

This mobile museum is installed on a special 53-foot trailer, transformed to exhibit historic photos, video, artifacts, uniforms and other memorabilia that illustrate the history of Negro Leagues Baseball. This year, the mobile museum also features a life-size replica of baseball legend Leroy “Satchel” Paige and localized content in the form of a changing regional display.

Founded in 1990, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is a privately funded, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history of African-American baseball. Located in Kansas City, Mo., it includes multimedia displays, photographs and artifacts dating from the late 1800s to the 1960s.
