The unusual partnership will allow Wincor Nixdorf to strength its ability to repair automatic teller machines (ATM) and point of sale (POS) systems by ensuring needed parts can be dispatched quickly. Once a service need is identified, a Wincor Nixdorf service technician contacts the nearest FedEx Kinko's location and the needed part can be picked up or sent by messenger to the service location, says the company.

Wincor Nixdorf says this should reduce down time and the time spent on repairs. The company is among the top three providers of information technology solutions for the banking and retail industries. It provides ATMs, software, and related products to 18 of the world's 25 leading banks. It also provides point of sale systems and software to 17 of the world's top 25 retailers.

Also as part of the agreement, the extensive parts inventory of Wincor Nixdorf's US service organization will be moved from the company's Austin, TX headquarters and be warehoused at the FedEx main stocking location in Memphis, TN. “FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics integrates the FedEx shipping network of digitally connected stocking locations for an end-to-end solution with complete visibility,” says FedEx.
