The supply chain, warehousing and transportation management solutions provider boosts its coverage in Canada, Asia and the Northeastern US.
Purchase has been completed by Ryder of the assets of Transpacific Container Terminal Ltd. and CRSA Logistics Ltd. in Canada, and CRSA Logistics operations in Hong Kong and Shanghai. These entities will now operate as Ryder Transpacific Container Terminal (Ryder TCTL) and Ryder CRSA Logistics.
TCTL is a Canadian network of off-dock import and export container terminals. CRSA Logistics is a provider of transpacific end-to-end transportation management and supply chain services for Canadian retailers.
"The acquisition of TCTL and CRSA Logistics provides an excellent opportunity to supplement our organic growth initiatives by adding new capabilities to our service portfolio, and extending our footprint in the Canadian retail sector with a well respected management team that shares our focus and commitment to profitable growth and superior customer service. We look forward to pursuing new growth opportunities in this geographic market," notes John Williford, president of Ryder’s Supply Chain Solutions.
Ryder has also moving to acquire the full-service truck leasing, commercial truck leasing, commercial truck rental and contract maintenance businesses of Edart Leasing Co. LLC, with headquarters in Hartford, CT. Ryder will be acquiring 1,450 full service lease and 150 rental units that serve 340 contract customers within Edart’s nine locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey.
Commenting on the acquisition, Greg Swienton, Ryder chairman and CEO, claims that, "Edart Leasing is a well-known and respected, family-owned transportation service provider that has been a strong competitor in the Northeast. By building on the best practices and unique qualities of each company, we can strengthen our network and product offering in the Northeast to bring more business resources and value to customers of both companies."
