Losses in the Americas operation of the DHL Express unit of Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN) fell to $380 million for the nine-month period ended in September. Losses for the prior-year period were $509 million. Express operations in the Americas increased revenues by 4.3% during the period. The express unit, as a whole, produced $15.5 billion in revenues, a 3.2% rise.

Logistics division revenues totaled $6.7 billion, a 15.6% increase that was fuelled by growth at both DHL Danzas Air & Ocean and DHL Solutions. The company said it increased air and ocean volumes and rates. It also added new contracts for logistics services.

Though the company could not release forecasts by segment due to the pending acquisition of U.K.-based Exel, it did say it expected to achieve a consolidated net income at least $585 million ahead of last year’s $1.87 billion.
