TraPac marked the official opening of its new 158-acre terminal January 12, 2009, with the arrival of the CMA CGM Virginia at the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT).
Groundbreaking for the terminal was on August 3, 2005. "The opening of the TraPac Terminal signals JAXPORT's move into the big leagues of international trade," said Rick Ferrin, JAXPORT's executive director. "This is the start of Jacksonville's future as a hub for transportation and logistics, and we look forward to a long, successful collaboration with MOL/TraPac."

Estimates are that TraPac’s new JAXPORT terminal will generate nearly $1billion annually in local economic benefits from private sector wages, taxes and revenue earned by neighboring businesses. That's almost three times the proceeds generated by hosting Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005.
With its outstanding rail and highway access, as well as a cutting-edge container handling system capable of 800,000 TEU’s annually, TraPac Jacksonville is destined to become a first-string player in one of the fastest growing markets in the US, continued Ferrin.
