The Port Everglades plan to comply with federally mandated port security requirements is designed to safeguard the port and its assets from terrorist attacks, stolen property and importation of illegal contraband, said port officials. Projects included development of a new security operation center, access control points, and port-wide fencing.

Additional security projects budgeted for the current fiscal year include additional access control points, further dockside and waterside gating, automated access control and fencing, port-wide closed circuit television monitoring and a barrier wall around a sensitive storage area.

Port Everglades is the 12th largest U.S. container port and South Florida’s primary petroleum hub.
