BDP International (BDP) has expanded its operations in China with the addition of its seventh office there. Located in Ningbo, the new office will operate as a satellite of the company's Shanghai operations center, which will continue to coordinate consignment and notification of inbound shipments. The Ningbo office will deploy its own export operations, customer service and development activities.
"Ningbo is an extremely strategic port city located on the eastern coast of China near Shanghai," said Peter Huels, managing director of BDP Asia Pacific.

Florida International Terminal, operating out of Broward County’s Port Everglades has begun weekly service to the east coast of South America through a vessel sharing agreement between Chilean-based Compania Sudamerica De Vapores S.A. (CSAV), Libra and Montemar with CP Ships participating on a slot charter basis.
F.I.T.’s operations at Port Everglades are anticipated to generate throughput of more than 70,000 containers and one million short tons of cargo annually. The terminal handles cargo from CSAV, CCNI, Libra, Montemar, CP Ships, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin and Zim Lines, among others.
CaroTrans has initiated weekly less-than-containerload (LCL) service from Savannah, Ga. to Sydney, Australia. The non-vessel-operating common carrier (NVOCC) had begun a similar service from Savannah to Melbourne, Australia four months earlier. The new service cuts transit time from 41 to 33 days from cut-off in Charleston. Previously, the cargo moved via land bridge to LAX.
Antwerp-based Delphis inaugurated a new container feeder service, Direct Channel Connection (DCC), at Dunkirk’s NFTI OU Container Terminal. It provides regular container service between Dunkirk, LeHavre and Felixstowe on one leg and between Dunkirk and Rotterdam on the other. With inauguration of this service, GIE Nord Container Service (NCS) will be able to withdraw its maritime feeder activity to and from Dunkirk and concentrate on inland waterway activities. GIE NCS operates three barges with capacities of 20, 52 and 78 twenty-foot equivalents (TEUs) between Dunkirk, Lille, Dourges, Valenciennes and Bethune. That service reached 7,600 TEUs in 2004 and is expected to grow to 9,000 TEUs in 2005.
