Wesco Aircraft, Valencia, CA, an aerospace company with a global inventory of more than 575,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs), needed printing equipment that could handle its picking, packing and labeling applications. ADC Technologies Group, Inc., Irvine, CA, a value-added software-system integrator and reseller of automatic data capture and point-of-sale technology, helped it find the Datamax-O'Neil MP Compact4 Mark II portable printer. The printer takes up less than half the space of a traditional desktop label printer, but with the same duty cycle. The solid cast-metal frame and metal die-cast covers protect from the rigors of warehouse or high-volume printing applications. Media loading is aided by large levers that can be operated single-handedly while wearing a leather or latex glove. The paper path is also accessible through the side of the printer. The design allows it to be mounted vertically or upside-down. Wesco’s 28 MP Compact4 Mark II printers are mounted on pickers and used in conjunction with an RF gun.
