Worst Warehouse Locations in the US—2015

Nov. 15, 2015
A look at the 10 U.S. counties that lost the most warehouse jobs over the past year.

While the number of new warehousing jobs in the United States has increased by 106,000 over the past five years, some areas of the country aren't enjoying this expansion. On top of that, some of the best areas of the country for warehousing job growth are neighbors to the very worst.

Headlight Data recently crunched the numbers and identified the U.S. counties that lost the most jobs between 2013 and 2014. While New Jersey's Mercer County made the list of top 10 best locations for warehouse jobs, two other NJ counties ended up on the 10 worst list. Southern California has two counties on each list, and similarly, while eastern Pennsylvania boasts two counties on the 10 best list, it also has one county on the 10 worst list.

Headlight Data based its findings on U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data (an annual average for NAICS 493: warehousing and storage). Warehouses of all types account for 741,000 jobs in the United States.
