Richmond, VA June 30, 2006 -- The Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., a world leader in warehouse logistics technology, announces the ETR 320, a new pantographic reach truck specially engineered for high productivity in U.S. operations. It boasts a 3-stage mast, and a rock-steady pantograph mechanism enabling precise load placements at heights up to 33 feet. Its high productivity stems from a powerful combination of high-energy efficiency, great ergonomic design, excellent load and fork visibility, and smooth lift-hydraulics.
Jungheinrich has completely integrated the operation of the vehicle’s AC motors, controllers and CAN BUS software so they work together efficiently – in fact, we manufacture all of these components ourselves to ensure this happens. And this is the only pantograph reach truck available today in which all three motors -- steering, hydraulic and driving – are based on 3-phase AC. The truck’s 48 volt system means lower amperage, generating less heat and using smaller cables. And since the ETR 320 runs cooler, its oil won’t break down and lose viscosity, as it would in a higher temperature vehicle. What’s more, an energy reclamation system returns energy to the battery that otherwise would be wasted during braking. With less energy consumed and more conserved, the truck’s battery will last longer and need fewer charges. Throughput will be high as the truck stays productive through the work-day. Under the same demanding workload, other truck brands would simply slow down.
The ETR 320’s proportional hydraulics will give you a smooth lift; the pantograph will be jitter-free, for steady load placements. And the truck affords a superb view of the forks by eliminating the obtrusive, center mast cylinder that some trucks use. We’ve also put a clear safety glass shield behind the forks as a standard feature, and we give the operator a visibility “window” through the center of the pantograph.
The ergonomic design here focuses on comfort and safety. For example, the steering wheel’s size and position have been optimized and all controls besides steering and braking are conveniently contained in the joystick.
Three standard driving programs are present to suit differing conditions and operator skills. Generous padding protects and supports the operator’s legs and back during turns and braking, and the platform is low for easy mount and dismount.
The sideways driving orientation means the operator never has to reverse positions and learn to operate the truck with opposite hands. We’ve also provided a safe, 2-pedal dead-man switch system.
The ETR will be a problem-free workhorse in your operation, requiring only periodic checkups and service. Troubleshooting is conveniently done on a laptop, using a cable-hookup to a single diagnostic data access point. Power controllers are fully enclosed and protected. Fuses are sealed, and contactless sensors are employed – instead of the standard corrodible potentiometers. In addition, our electrical plugs are dirt and dust resistant.
Since the ETR 320 runs at a lower temperature, we used a lightweight thermosetting plastic oil tank, whose shape also gives you more tank capacity. Push-on, pull-on hydraulic hose plugs vastly reduce oil leakage and eliminate need for precise fitting torques. We’ve also eliminated 35% of the oil interfaces. And a key to the smoothness of the hydraulics is our innovative valve block.
