    Marking the eighth acquisition for the company this year, Robert H. Chapman, chairman and CEO of Barry-Wehmiller Companies, Inc. (St. Louis) has announced the signature of a letter of intent to purchase the assets of AMBEC Inc., Owings Mills, Md.

    AMBEC, founded in l960, manufactures stainless steel conveyance systems, serving the food and beverage, container manufacturing, pharmaceutical and consumer goods markets. This acquisition also includes the AMBEC operations located in Lynchburg, Va.

    Upon completion of the acquisition, AMBEC will become an operating group within the FleetwoodGoldcoWyard subsidiary of Barry-Wehmiller Companies, with operations remaining in Maryland and Virginia.
