NAPLES, Fla.--The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its November 2008 Booked Orders Index was 94, down 40 points or a decrease of 30% from October 2008’s Index of 134. The November 2008 Index decreased 38% from the November 2007 Index of 151.

November Booked Orders Indexes were 147 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 75 for Unit Handling Equipment.*

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 134 in November. Index in November represents a decrease of 4% from October 2008’s Twelve-Month Index of 139.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 111 in November. Index in November is down 36 points or 24% from October 2008’s Index of 147. The November 2008 Index decreased 26 points or 19% from the November 2007 Index of 137.

November Billed Sales Indexes were 161 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 103 for Unit Handling Equipment.*

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 146 in November. Index in November represents a decrease of 1% from October 2008’s Twelve-Month Index of 148.

* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.
