The new gateway will route northbound shipments to DHL’s North American ground and air hub at Wilmington, OH via Phoenix. Next-day service for packages up to 150 pounds will now be possible to DHL’s entire US network.
Second-day service will be available to and from Guayma, Ciudad Obregon, Navojoa, Emplame and other surrounding communities.
The announcement follows the earlier launch of DHL’s Merida gateway in Southeast Mexico. The two expansions are part of DHL’s North America Trade Lane initiative launched in November 2006 to increase the speed and efficiency of cross-border shipments across North America.
Mexico is the second largest importer of US goods, the company noted. It is the third-ranking country of origin for US imports as well.
DHL Express Mexico maintains four ground hubs in Mexico, two in Mexico City, one in Guadalajara, and one in Monterrey.
