SMC updates its batch shipment rating product

Aug. 24, 2004
SMC has released version 4.0 of its BatchMark product. This batch processing tool enables shippers to analyze bids, set benchmarks and conduct pricing

With BatchMark, thousands of bills can be rated or re-rated simultaneously. BatchMark gives the user the ability to apply LTL custom discounts as well as multiple LTL and small package data modules in the same study. FAKs and minimum discounts can be applied on a study-by-study basis, and the application includes reporting capabilities for state-to-state, ZIP-ZIP or regional analysis.

SMC³ provides data modules for use with BatchMark. These data modules contain the rates of major LTL carriers, large shippers who have their own tariffs and many of the industry's base rate tariffs, including SMC³'s CzarLite, CanadaLite and intra-Canadian rates. Standard FedEx and UPS package rates are also available at all service levels (express, ground, cwt., etc.) and from all points to all points within the contiguous U.S.

When BatchMark is integrated with SMC³'s RateWare rating engine, the two products combine to give multiple in-house users access to SMC³ data modules for freight bill rating. The two products can be used to compare current and competing rate bases to determine a revenue-neutral number; provide a statistical validation for a process; identify the best shipping routes by evaluating alternate pool points in daily shipments; and audit invoices to verify billing accuracy.

BatchMark version 4.0 is PC-compatible and is also operable on the Windows Terminal Server. The product can also be installed for stand-alone or network functionality.
